Irana Frump to replace Lohan in ‘Dare to Love Me’

October 8, 2009 at 4:08 pm (Uncategorized)

Rumours are that Irana Frump (Shoes in the City / Shop till you drop) is to replace actress Lindsay Lohan star of the new feature based on the life of Carlos Gardel – Dare to Love Me.

An official announcement is expected this week, sources close to the film confirm.  Dare to Love Me is the story of Tango legend Carlos Gardel, who was involved in a steamy romance with a shopping addict, only to have his credit card max’d out by his lover and later enter into an individual voluntary arrangement to pay it off.  He also had a career as a famous Tango pioneer (although this is not the focus of the new movie).

Effegies link Carlos Gardel and Scottish Wickerman

August 5, 2009 at 4:01 pm (Uncategorized)

Could these images located and sent to us recently link Carlos Gardel and the burning of the wickerman in Scottish tradition?

Might he have introduced the practice straight from South America directly into the consciousness of rural Scotland during his now fabled tour.

The statue does resemble Carlos, and the subtitle does refer to him . . . .  Whats more there is a fever of activity below the likeness before it is set ailght – is this a traditional dance conducted before the effegy is reduce to a cinder!

There is no way to be sure but it requires some further exploration. I hope there is not a member of the local constabulary trapped inside!

Here is a scottish Wickerman below, uncanny you must agree?!!!

July 22, 2009 at 4:17 pm (Uncategorized)

A blog written in Spanish has recently published a news peice on the Carlos Gardel statues tour of Scotland. But what does it say? Inventivley the author has used many of the photos published on our flickr photographs account and reformed them to fit the blog’s format and size. Ingeneous. The blog can be read here:

http://gardelysusmonumentos.blogspot.com/2009/06/en-escocia.html

Perhaps the author may contact me to explain its thrust and content.

The title is GARDEL EN SUS MONUMENTOS.
